League Policies

Although it is our intent to complete every game, on occasion, situations arise which are 100% out of our control, which may cause a game to be canceled and/or delayed. If for the weather, acts of God, or any other unforeseen reason, all or part of the Legendary Lacrosse League season is cancelled, there will be no refunds to any clubs. In the event the league is cancelled prior to the start of the season, 80% of your deposit will be refunded. The remaining registration fee will be held and each team will be provided a credit of said paid amount for future registration with LLL. Credits are good for 1 calendar year.

Executing a Lacrosse League has fixed expenses relating to field acquisitions, staging, setup costs, insurance, personnel, sponsorships and a multitude of other matters regardless of cancellation due to weather or any other reasons. Accordingly, club/ teams will not receive a refund. Withdrawal/cancellation by any team will result in forfeiture of all registration fees paid to date. Legendary

Lacrosse League (LLL) reserves the right to cancel an event for any reason.

Weather Policy In the event of adverse weather or unplayable field conditions, the Legendary Lacrosse League (LLL) reserve the right to:

  • ➢ Reduce game time in order to catch up with the schedule
  • ➢ Finish games before the inclement weather arrive, or to preserve the fields
  • ➢ Shorten game times until original schedule is achieved
  • ➢ Reschedule and shorten games, if necessary and possible
  • ➢ Cancel all games

In the event of inclement weather or in response to warnings issued by the National Weather Service, we will post updates on our website in addition to our email/text messaging system. However, weather conditions can change rapidly, and all teams should be prepared to play at their regularly scheduled times, or as close to their scheduled time, as soon as the weather clears, and fields are playable. If a team cannot be found when play resumes, they will forfeit their game. If thunder or lightning is observed within five miles of any of our fields, play will be suspended immediately and players, coaches and spectators will be asked to leave the fields and return to covered areas or to their cars. Fields must remain closed for 20 minutes after the last occurrence before play can resume. If the delay is in the second half, the game will be considered final and the score at that point will be recorded. If it is the first half, when play resumes it will be the start of the second half. The game suspended will play one 15-minute running time second half. Subsequent games will begin immediately after preceding games (teams are to warm up on the sideline prior to the game). These games will consist of two 15-minute running halves until games are back on schedule. Once games are back on schedule, they will revert to their original structure of play consisting of four 10-minute quarters with a five-minute halftime. We make every attempt to play every minute of every game, but we will not jeopardize the safety of any player, coach, spectator or staff.

  • ➢ All rules in effect will be to encourage hard physical play with player safety at the top of mind.
  • ➢ There is no justification for deliberate and violent collision by any player at any youth level, especially intentional player-to-player collisions with defenseless players (so-called “blind side” and “buddy pass” checks), checks involving the head and/or neck, and excessive body-checks (“take-out checks”).
  • ➢ Officials will apply violent collision rules and utilize the most severe penalty option; game ejection, plus 2-minute unreleasable penalty. We understand there could be improper ejections although we hope not to have this, we all must understand if it happens it’s in the interest of player safety. Your players and your families need to be instructed, taught, and these rules need to be clearly understood prior to the event.

The Legendary Lacrosse League (LLL) is a very competitive league that we hope is played fast and physical and with sportsmanship by players, coaches and spectators. Coaches and officials should be partnered in providing the best possible lacrosse experience for youth players. Unsportsmanlike conduct by coaches, players and/or spectators degrades the experience of youth players, discourages people from becoming or continuing as officials, and erodes the integrity and appeal of Lacrosse. Therefore, unsportsmanlike conduct cannot and will not be tolerated (see Zero Tolerance Policy). Obscenities need not be used in order for language to draw a penalty. Tone, intent and body language can all contribute to unsportsmanlike conduct. Legendary Lacrosse League (LLL) expects officials to enforce the Zero Tolerance Policy without hesitation.

Family Behavior

➢ Any parent, friend, grandparents etc… acting in an inappropriate, crude or unsportsmanlike manner is subject to an ejection. Said ejection could result in removal from the field/grounds at the discretion of the official(s). This includes but is not limited to foul language, taunting other teams or their coaches, taunting other parents in the stands and taunting or berating an official.

➢ The LLL is a great experience for all the athletes that should in no way be negatively impacted by parents and their behavior. Clubs should make their parents aware of the LLL’s zero tolerance policy prior to gameday, as there will be no “second chances” if they were not made aware of this policy. If behavior continues after sanctioning takes place, teams could face penalty time enforced through the referees or disqualification from the game.

➢ In the event that the offense is recurring weekly after the third offense the team/club will be asked to leave the league altogether without a refund.

Player Behavior

➢ The Legendary Lacrosse League expects all of its players to strive to lead by positive example by showing respect for their coaches, teammates, the fans and the officials.

➢ Players of the LLL will respect the facilities where we play, and they are to pick up after themselves.

➢ Players are not to use inappropriate language.

➢ Players will not allow their behavior to disrupt gameplay.

➢ Players are expected to remember to express thanks to their coaches and to their parents.

➢ Players will play fair and follow the rules and regulations of the game and will not argue with the referees.

➢ Players are to be modest when victorious and gracious when defeated.

➢ Players will demonstrate a positive attitude at all times and will encourage and congratulate teammates and refrain from negative criticism.

Leagues Sportsmanship Mission

The LLL’s sportsmanship mission is that when a family joins our league they are to assist every player with good decision-making skills, how to embrace challenges, to be humble in victory, and display sportsmanship in defeat. The club’s passionate coaches are to encourage the players to work hard at the fundamentals to get to the next level, to stay positive, to be a great teammate, and to have a great game day experience. Players should learn the value of hard work, be coachable and compete against the best to become tomorrow’s best. The end result of this commitment will be great memories, great friends and the development into well-rounded athletes.

Purpose

To help prevent physical assault and verbal abuse during sanctioned events the Legendary Lacrosse League (LLL), has adopted a ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY. This policy applies to all coaches, players, parents, spectators and other supporters and referees. Abusive and obscene language, violent play/conduct, fighting and other behavior (including, but not limited to sarcasm, taunting, etc.) deemed detrimental to the game will not be tolerated. The ultimate responsibility for the actions of coaches, players and spectators resides with all LLL participants. It is the responsibility of the coaches to provide referee support and spectator control, and it is the responsibility of the LLL participants to provide instructions to their coaches on how to implement sportsmanlike behavior. This policy applies before, during and after the sanctioned event at the lacrosse field and its immediate surrounding areas.

Parents & Spectators:

No parent or spectator shall persistently address the referee or assistant referees at any time. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • ➢ Parents and spectators shall not dispute calls during or after the game.
  • ➢ Parents and spectators shall not make remarks to the referee(s) or advise the referee(s) to watch certain players or attend to rough play.
  • ➢ Parents and spectators shall never yell at the referee(s), including criticism, sarcasm, harassment, intimidation or feedback of any kind before, during or after the game.
  • ➢ Additionally, parents and spectators shall not make derogatory comments to players, spectators or coaches of either team.

Penalties (Parents & Spectators)

In the opinion of the referee, depending on the severity of the offense, the referee may take any of the following actions:

  • ➢ The referee may issue a verbal warning to the coach of offending party’s team.
  • ➢ The referee may stop the game and instruct the coaches to direct the parent/ spectator to leave the field.
  • ➢ The referee may abandon the game if the parent/spectator does not leave the field, which will result in the offending team forfeiting the game and being assessed the appropriate game day fees.

The ultimate responsibility for the actions of the spectators resides with LLL participating clubs. Clubs will be held accountable for the actions of their parents/ spectators and may be subject to penalties and/or fines for grievous actions. A club taking NO action with a parent/spectator after being issued a warning by LLL may be put in bad standing with LLL. Additionally, a team, player or coach may be suspended from all future competitions until such time appropriate action has been taken with the parent/spectator to the satisfaction of the LLL.

Players

The conduct of the players is governed by the Laws of the Game as stated by US Lacrosse. The Laws themselves describe penalties associated with violating the Laws of the Game. Additional penalties for players who engage in misconduct may be established by the club or LLL but may in no case be less severe than penalties established by US Lacrosse or the LLL. In severe cases of unsportsmanlike behavior or violent conduct, players may be called into a hearing with the LLL supervisory committee with his/her coach and parents for further disciplinary action. A player called to a hearing that does not appear, will be suspended from play until such time of appearance.

Coaches, Assistant Coaches & Trainers

It is the responsibility of all coaches to maintain the highest standards of conduct for themselves, their players and supporters in all matches. Failure to do so undermines the referee’s authority and the integrity of the game resulting in a hostile environment for players, the referee(s), coaches, assistant coaches and parents/spectators. As role models for all of the participants and spectators, coaches participating in a LLL sanctioned event are expected to be supportive of, and to acknowledge the effort, good play and sportsmanship on the part of ALL players from either team in a game. By example, coaches, assistant coaches and all field personnel are expected to show that although they are competing in a game, they have respect for their opponent, referees and spectators at all times.

The Legendary Lacrosse League will not tolerate negative behavior exhibited either by demonstrative actions and gestures, or by ill-intentioned remarks, including those addressed toward the referees or members of an opposing team. Coaches exhibiting hostile, negative, sarcastic or otherwise ill-intended behavior toward referees, opposing players or coaches will be subject to disciplinary action by the Legendary Lacrosse League.

Additional sanctions may be imposed on the club that the coach or assistant coach represents, or as allowed by Legendary Lacrosse League policies.

  • ➢ Coaches shall not interact directly or indirectly with the coaches or players of the opposing team during the game in any manner that may be construed as negative, hostile or sarcastic either by way of demonstrative actions and gestures or by ill-intentioned remarks.
  • ➢ Coaches shall not offer dissent to any call made by the referee(s) at any time.
  • ➢ Coaches are not to address the referee(s) during the game except to:
    1.  Respond to a referee who has initiated a conversation.
    2.  Point out emergency or safety issues.
    3.  Make substitutions.
    4. Absolutely no sarcasm, harassment or intimidation is allowed.

NOTE: It is recommended that coaches or other team members do not engage in any conversation with the referee(s) once the game has concluded.

Penalties (Coaches and Assistant Coaches)

In the opinion of the referee, depending on the severity of the offense, the referee may take any of the following actions:

1. The referee may issue a verbal warning to the offending coach or assistant coach.

2. The referee may eject the offending coach or assistant coach. Once ejected, the individual will be required to leave the field immediately.

All cases of alleged assault of a referee shall be reported to the US Lacrosse Office and State Referee Administrator within 48 hours of the match. LLL will also conduct a verification of the complaint and subsequent actions and may at their discretion impose additional penalties to the coach, assistant coach and/or club. LLL member clubs are responsible for the behavior of their coaches, assistant coaches, and all field personnel at all times.

Games Disbanded Prior to the Conclusion by the Referee:

When a game is disbanded by the referee prior to it’s conclusion due to unsporting behavior on the part of one or both teams, the LLL will conduct an investigation and will issue a forfeit to either one or both teams and possibly from further competitions. The offending club(s) will also be assessed a fine which must be paid prior to the next team registration or the LLL member club will be put in bad standing with LLL. In cases of extreme unsportsmanlike behavior, in the opinion of the LLL, a team, player, coach, assistant coach or field personnel may be banned from any further participation in LLL sanctioned events and competitions.

Suspension, Banning of Players, Coaches, Assistant Coaches, Trainers or Parents/Spectators

If a player, parent/spectator, coach, assistant coach or field personnel is suspended/ banned by LLL, he/she will not be allowed to participate or have any interaction with their team until they are reinstated. If a player, parent/spectator, coach, assistant coach or any field personnel is suspended they are suspended from all LLL sanctioned events. If a player, parent/spectator, coach, assistant coach or field personnel wishes to attend an LLL game they may request a temporary pass in writing from the LLL President. The LLL reserves the right to refuse to issue a temporary pass for a sanctioned event if the suspension has resulted from a grievous action or the issuance of a temporary pass could endanger the health, welfare and safety of those attending the event. LLL as a youth organization reserves the right to suspend/ban any participant that endangers the health, welfare and safety of its participants.

Players, Coaches, officials, parents and spectators are to conduct themselves in a manner that “Honors the Game” and demonstrates respect to other players, coaches, officials, parents, spectators and fans. In becoming a member of the Legendary Lacrosse League(LLL), an individual assumes certain obligations and responsibilities to the game of lacrosse and its participants. The essential elements in this “Code of Conduct” are Honesty and Integrity. Those who conduct themselves in a manner that reflects these elements will bring credit to the sport of lacrosse, themselves, their team/organization and the Legendary Lacrosse League. It is only through such conduct that our league can continue to earn and maintain a positive image and make its full contribution to the sport of Lacrosse. The Legendary Lacrosse League supports the following behavior for those who are part of the league.

➢ Sportsmanship and teaching the concepts of fair play are essential to the game and must be taught at all levels and developed on the field during games.

➢ The values of good sportsmanship, the concept of fair play and the skills of the game should always be followed.

➢ The safety and welfare of the players are of primary importance. ➢ Coaches must always be aware of the tremendous influence they have on their players. They are to strive to be positive role models in dealing with young people, as well as adults. “We Are Making Gentlemen”.

➢ Coaches should always demonstrate positive behaviors and reinforce them to players, parents, officials and spectators alike. Players should be specifically encouraged and positively reinforced by coaches to demonstrate respect for teammates, opponents, officials and spectators.

➢ Players should always demonstrate positive behavior and respect towards teammates, opponents, coaches, officials, parents and spectators.

➢ Coaches, players, parents and spectators are expected to demonstrate the utmost respect for officials and reinforce that respect to players/teammates. Coaches are also expected to educate their players as to the important role of lacrosse officials and reinforce the ideal of respect for the official to players/teammates.

➢ Grievances or misunderstandings between coaches, officials, or any other parties involved with the sport should be communicated through the proper channels and procedures, never on or about the field of play in the view of the players or spectators.

➢ Officials are trained professionals and are therefore expected to conduct themselves as such and in a manner that demonstrates total impartiality, courtesy and fairness to all parties.

➢ Spectators involved with the game will not permit anyone to openly or maliciously criticize, badger, harass or threaten an official, coach, player or opponent.

➢ Coaches must be able to demonstrate a solid knowledge of the rules of lacrosse, and should adhere to the rules in both the letter and the spirit of the game.

➢ Coaches should provide basic knowledge of the rules to both players and spectators within their program. Attempts to manipulate rules in an effort to take unfair advantage of an opponent, or to teach deliberate unsportsmanlike conduct, is considered unacceptable conduct.

➢ Eligibility requirements, at all levels of the game, must be followed. Rules and requirements such as age, previous level of participation, team transfers, etc., have been established to encourage and maximize participation, fair play, and to promote safety.
